For some years now I have cultivated the habit of recording my travel memories in sketchbooks that I carry around with me. It's a habit I'll never regret: it's so much better than having a lost photo album on your smartphone.

These are pages from the summer of 2017. I was living in Germany at the time and decided to take a quick trip to Helsinki and visit a Colombian friend of mine who lived there with her dog Lola.
As my first day in Helsinki was a working day, I went to my friend's office and spent one or two hours there watching her work, drinking hot lattes and drawing.
On lunch break, my friend Laura took me to Nepalese restaurant.

Oddly enough, when we were about to order dessert, the guy at the next table came to us. He had been listening to our conversation throughout the whole meal and came to thank us:  as a brazilian living living in Finland for years he had missed hearing someone speak Portuguese.
This hippo-like character below is a Moomin. Moomins were created by the illustrator Tove Jansson and are very popular in Finland.
To enjoy the Finnish summer, we took a ferry to an island called Suomenlinna and then sat on the grass for a picnic.
