In mid-2017 I created a character called Pata Risonha (which means laughing duck, in Portuguese). Every now and then I liked to draw her making funny gestures and wearing fancy clothes. Over time, I understood that I was using this character to represent parts of myself that I was somehow ashamed to show. That's how she ended up becoming an alter ego, who is both my roomate and my best friend.
The first comics I drew tell the story of how we met and became great friends. They are are a series of square shaped chapters because they were designed for Instagram.
As wrote all the scripts for this series when I was living in Germany, the setting was inspired by the city of Cologne.
After that, I kept creating comics starring this same duo to post on social media. Usually they talk about everyday life and also about their existential crises. I think it's a way I found to express my concerns in a funny way.
In 2019 I created a script for a graphic novel that would tell the story of the reunion of the two friends in São Paulo, some time after they first met in Germany. For now, this project has not yet got off the ground, but who knows one day?
